Able to Sleep Without Pain Again

When I first started doing physical therapy I had trouble lifting grocery bags, reaching behind me, lifting various objects and sleeping without pain. Since coming to physical therapy and doing Astym therapy my symptoms have improved so much. My lifting is much, much better and I’m sleeping through the night without pain. Thank you Amy and Andrea.

Hope Restored- Playing Golf Again

I suffered an injury playing golf in late Fall, 2017. My left extensor muscle swelled up and I couldn’t use my fingers of my left hand for even the simplest of tasks. I was in severe pain and could no longer play golf. I became severely depressed since I had just cut back on my work hours to play more golf with my friends . At age 66 I wanted to go into semi retirement to play more golf. After 53 years of working I was excited to be able to cut back and play the game I have loved for 30 years. My orthopod told me to rest it for six weeks and limit lifting to 1-3 pounds as he thought it was a torn extensor muscle. After four weeks of no improvement I asked for an MRI. The MRI showed a tendinopathy of the left elbow with degeneration of the extensor. My orthopod injected the area with Kenalog and told me to find a good hand therapist .

I had some therapy connections being an RN and contacted someone who recommended Tiffany Carpenter at Therapy solutions for my “tennis elbow”. After the assessment Tiffany explained the Astym treatment to me and her success with this technique. She explained in detail the tools and technique. After the first 5 treatments I began to see a significant difference. The swelling was rapidly subsiding and the pain was completely gone. It has been 6 weeks and I am so excited to say I will be swinging a golf club for the first time in months! Astym therapy is Awesome and my hope has been restored that I will soon be playing golf again and enjoying life! Thank you Astym therapy!

Tumbling Down – Astym Therapy Relieved Elbow Pain

I took a tumble down our stairs during a moment of dizziness, which is something I deal with on a daily basis. As I was falling, I grabbed for the spokes in the railing on both sides. My arms got stuck as gravity pulled! Both elbows and my right shoulder were in pain. I ignored it for a month, hoping they would heal. No go! Whenever I lifted something like a jug of water or opened a jar, searing pain would penetrate my elbows. Thank goodness for my PT! After the first few Astym treatments on my left elbow, I found immediate relief from the distinctively sharp pain when in use. I can grip things now with little to no pain. My right elbow is also responding to the treatment, needing a bit more TLC. Astym therapy has been a wonderful relief!

Astym treatment gave me relief from elbow pain

After suffering with terrible pain in my left elbow,  the Astym treatments were wonderful and gave me a lot of relief. I am now moderate when I was really unable to wash my back or open bottle’s of O/J, or even cut up food (meats) or vegetables in the kitchen. The patch was a relief of the pain as well. Ella is a wonderful Physical Therapist. The whole department is filled with wonderful and delightful and good people. I will recommend anyone to the Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic. I want to thank them once again for everything that was done for me.

Following injury and surgery, my elbow pain finally gets relief from Astym therapy

About 12 years ago I damaged my right elbow. Three surgeries later I still cannot fully straighten or extend my right arm. I have learned to live with this (as well as my arthritis) but this means there is a great deal of stress placed on my right wrist, elbow and shoulder to compensate. Periodically I get flare-ups of tennis elbow and elbow joint pain. I had been having a particularly bad one for a couple of weeks and decided that I needed physical therapy. Ginger Haley at ATI in Kirkland recommended I try Astym therapy because she said she’d had good results with it. I saw improvement from the first session! My pain was eased almost immediately and the flexibility and strength training Ginger also added to the Astym treatment over the next few sessions have made my arm feel better than it has in years. The change has been remarkable, I have had to deal with this issue for a long time, so I know what a normal cycle of flare-up and calming down is. This accelerated the healing process phenomenally even though I was having one of my worst flare-ups in years – I am doing things now with no pain that I know would have triggered a flare-up in the past. I can’t say enough about this treatment, how well Ginger applied it, and how well it worked!

Tendonosis of the elbow: Astym therapy gave me results when nothing else would work!

After two months of trying to heal my extremely painful elbows on my own, i was diagnosised by my physician with tendonosis. I had stopped working out with a personal trainer. I also stopped my yoga practice that my husband and I had been doing regularly for many months. The doctor said it was a very lengthy healing process, because tendons have little blood flow, which is what is needed to heal. I tried several different things to heal my degenerating elbows including self physical therapy excerises, taping, bracing, acupunture and injections. None of those gave me the results i received with Astym therapy. I am still healing, but I am anxiously excited with my results. My left elbow is mostly healed and my right is getting there. I truly apprecitate Heidi, my therapist. She encourages continuing the treatment and it is working. Thank you.
